This fledgling Nighthawk was found near a strip mall in Speedway, IN. Nighthawks are related to Whip-poor-wills. Despite their name, they hunt flying insects during the day. They do well in urban environments and often nest on flat gravel rooftops (like the strip mall!). This guy sure can eat and is plowing through over 100 meal worms a day! He's communicates pretty clearly when his belly is full!
